Barusan dapat link INI, dan tahu sumbernya dari SINI. Setelah baca, saya jadi mikir juga, saya punya kamera buat apa ya?

Sejak SMP saya berkutat dengan Canonet QL17 G-III (Googling aja deh), menghabiskan ratusan rol film. Buat apa? Buat motret puluhan acara di sekolah. Karena biaya beli film dan cetaknya dibayarin sama sekolah, ya hayuh aja deh. Entah awalnya dulu gimana, saya bisa kebagian di seksi dokumentasi. Canonet G-III itu benar-benar manual. Jadul abis deh, tapi saya belajar banyak dari situ. Sementara bokap sudah beli kamera elektronik (tetep film sih), jadi saya lebih leluasa main-main dengan kamera ini. Oh ya, baterai ga pernah diisi, jadi metering sensornya mati... :D Oh ya, kebayang nggak, saya pakai kamera yang sama sampai lahiran anak saya yang pertama! puluhan tahun kemudian. Hebat dah tuh kamera. Sekarangpun kalo diisi film masih bisa dipakai juga. Hem... ada di lemari... coba nanti malam saya lihat kondisinya.

Well, balik ke topik. Setelah dirasa beli film dan cetak mahal, akhirnya beli poket, (lagi-lagi) Canon PowerShot A80. Buat apa? Motret anak lah! Namanya juga bapak baru. Hehehe... Tapi akhirnya kegunaan kamera beralih buat blogging. Kemana-mana saya bawa. Efektif dah. Apalagi fiturnya tidak meninggalkan akar saya yang mulai dari manual. A80 punya menu M yang memuaskan kreativitas saya. Dipakai sampai hancur sensornya... sedih...

Diganti sama Canon EOS 350D. Lho? Sok-sok'an upgrade? Bukan! Karena selama pakai A80 saya juga "ngicipi" prosumer punya bokap macam Canon PowerShot G3 dan PowerShot Pro-1. Namanya juga ngicipi, trus berasa, "lha kok enak ya?" Hehehehe... Cuman drawbacknya di sisi ukuran & berat. Beberapa bulan pertama saya masih bawa tuh EOS kemana2. Akhirnya menyerah. Photo blogging turun drastis. EOS dipakai hanya kalo ada acara doang, atau kalo lagi mo narsis dengan papercraft.

Trus? Pilihan jatuh ke kamera henpon. Hehehe... downgrade? Terserah situ mo ngomong apa. Yang penting, kebutuhan buat photo blogging tercapai lagi.

Pengalaman menarik saat mampir ke SPBU Muri beberapa hari lalu, yang memiliki puluhan lebih toilet dan wc bersih. Saya bisa memantau tempat parkir dari area wc. Hebat kan. Memasang CCTV di area parkir sudah biasa, cuman menempatkan monitornya di depan alley wc sungguh inovatif!

Oh ya, saking bersihnya, komentar Sisi bikin kami tergelak, "Ma, masuk kamar mandinya boleh pakai sandal?" Hihihihi...

Mainboard MSI 915G Series, processor Intel P4 3GHz, harddisk Seagate 80GB SATA 7200RPM, memory Kingston DDR1 1GB CL3. Saya cemplungin Ubuntu server dengan Apache plus ISPConfig dengan semua fitur menyala melayani hampir 20 virtual web, Postfix dengan puluhan mailbox dan beberapa mailing list, MySQL dengan puluhan database semua aktif, Coldfusion web application server dengan 2 aplikasi aktif, dan sekarang saya masukkan juga VirtualBox untuk DIY SAS Pool.

What if you need a SAS pool service at your server, but you don't have a SAS/Share or SAS/Connect license? I've figured out from various sources and build my own pool service.

How we build
Install SAS as usual and put SAS executable's directory to the server global path for script simplification. Create one writable shared directory (named pool_1). Create another private directory (named pool_admin) and create one batch file named pool_1_trigger.bat in the directory which contains:

     p:\pool_admin\sleep.exe 5

Download file sleep.exe from Internet and put it in the pool_admin directory. I'll explain why I use this program later. Register pool_1_trigger.bat in server's Task Scheduler, set it up to run every server's startup. Done.

How it works
pool_1_trigger.bat will start at server boot. It will stay run caused by infinite loop script (goto start). This loop will look into pool_1 directory for start.sas existence every 5 seconds (p:\pool_admin\sleep.exe 5). Create a complete SAS codes (including libname assignments etc) and save it to start.sas. When you put the file into pool_1 shared directory, it will automatically executed by pool_1_trigger.bat. Remember! because pool_1 directory is a writable shared directory, you can submit the codes from anywhere (including another web application server like Coldfusion Server!) and expect the run within 5 seconds. While executing SAS codes, the directory is flagged by processing.txt file. Any other push service can check the pool by checking this file existence.

Why I use sleep.exe
The pool_1_trigger.bat script will be less complicated if the Task Scheduler can run every second. Unfortunately the fastest loop is one minute. If you can bear wait another minute for sas execution, drop sleep.exe, modify the script, and utilize Task Scheduler.

Is it reliable?
It's DIY! For reliability, I suggest to buy SAS/Share. But, hey, I've tested this method for several times and haven't see any flaws yet.

Further enhancements
Close pool_1 sharing when start.sas exist and reopen when the process finished.

Gitu deh... Mestinya saya konsisten dengan jalan yang saya pakai. Kalau pakai non-LTS mestinya rajin upgrade OS dua kali setahun. Untung server-server saya nongkrong di LTS Hardy, mau upgrade ke Lucid tinggal lompat sekali saja (LTS ke LTS). Ada satu server lagi yang pakai Karmic, cuman itu server coba-coba. Mungkin itu dulu saja yang saya naikin ke LTS Lucid.

Desktop di rumah? Karmic. Mesti naikin ke Lucid dalam waktu dekat, mungkin dua minggu lagi saat anak2 di rumah eyangnya, bisa lembur sampai malam di kantor. Nah yang di notebook mesti kerja keras. Dari Intrepid, mesti lompat tiga kali (ke Jaunty, ke Karmic, baru ke Lucid). Speed download "cuman" 512kbit/s lagi... huh...

Note: Hardy = 8.04 (LTS), Intrepid = 8.10, Jaunty = 9.04, Karmic = 9.10, Lucid = 10.04 (LTS)
