10 Years Server Co-location Experience

Yes, what an experience. First I start build my own server connected to the Internet using Sun Sparc 20. After several years replaced with Sun Ultra 1 then start using x86 PC powered by Ubuntu. I learn how to patch an Unix OS, learn how to encounter root kit, facing DDoS brutally, and so much more.
Aside of above challenging experiences, I taste some nice benefits from super fast download to ‘my own staging space’ to SSH tunneling to avoid proxies and firewalls.
Now, it’s all gone. My privilege to administer one Internet server has to be terminated due to cost reduction. After weeks subscribing and migrating websites, this morning I shutdown the server… for good.
