In 2000, I’ve experienced four earthquakes. Two of them have been widely known
because its power. My room is in the third floor, so if there any earthquake
no matter small its power, my dispenser bottle will shake. What an instrument,
ha…! By the way, I’ll tell you the latest one.
At October 25, 2000, it was a national holiday. I decide not to go anywhere
so I take a full day rest. I was sleeping since morning. Went out room just
for drink or to go to toilet. It’s about 4:30 p.m. when suddenly the water in
my ‘earthquake detector’ starts to shake. Earthquake! It first come with a small
one. I stood up from bed and wait. From the last experiences it will end less
than a minute. So like usual, I just thought what should I do if this goes worse.
I still calm, just sat on my bed.
But it didn’t stop until a minute! I got panic. My heart beats harder and my
mind…, I don’t know where my mind went that time. In fact, I just became vulnerable.
My thought about saving my important things before leaving the room was flushed
away. Then I got scared. That’s my first time this year. Usually I just worried
or nervous. But that time I really scared. God! I still want to live!!! He…
he… I think that was my heart screaming. Thank God it stops within 3 minutes.
Scared is normal in situation like that. But the important is, have you give
your right to live to God? Yes, life is one of basic human rights. But that’s
human rules. If you keep your life so tightly, you’ll loose it instead (Matthew
16:25). Any rights cannot be held that strong. It can cause disappointment,
anger, and bitterness. Find all your unloosen rights, surrender them all, and
thank to God for it.
