How To Open HP iPAQ 6828

This morning I’ve noticed that my iPAQ’s infrared cover was pushed inside the casing. Gee, another DIY stuff! I’ve tried to seek help via Uncle Google with zero answer. Da… So, here what I did:
Backup the iPAQ! Full backup! I use Sprite Backup to a 54MB file saved into the card. Unplug the card (if any). Open the battery cover, release the battery and the SIM card. Release the two screws at the left and right bottom. Use Torx-5 screwdriver. This is the tricky part: open top back cover by lifting the edge using stiff thin tool. I use a pinset. See the picture below. Do the same thing with the other side. When the edge is lifted, it should be easy to lift the whole cover.

Release the two left and right top screws beneath the top cover you’ve just open. Now, see the pictures below for your reference point (sorry I forget to take picture when it still close, gonna update these later). That’s where you must squeeze the inner case (white part, not the silver front cover!) and slightly move it out and pull, gently! I’ve managed to open from top side (near the card’s slot) then continue with the left and right, then bottom for the last.

Note, I think your apps & data are safe when you’re not messing up with the backup battery.

Done. After fixing anything you want to fix, close the inner case begin with the bottom side. Make sure the holes are fitted for mini USB and the phone jack. Well, you can do the rest to put them back together.
